Jesse James formed around April 2000 when Ben was in a London boozer getting pissed when a stranger came along nd scraped a clump of hair gel off of his ear. This man was Dko! They were talking about music together and discovered that Dko played bass and Ben played the drums. Ben knew a guitarist called Rich and 3 days later they met up at a rehearsal studio to get their act together! Afterwards they went to the pub and found that they all liked ska so they wanted a brass section for the band. Dko called Pete, a man he ahad met a few weeks ago, and then they had a sax player. Ben was almost run over by someone the followin day who was trying to avoid a squirrel on the road and then he was the trombonist who was also called ben. Then one of their friends saw someone carrying a trumpet on the street and gave them a number to call, they found Nez. They then rented out a tiny rehearsal studio which they all went to and played for about 3 or 4 nights per week for 8 months until it came to a time when they decided they could play gigs and still have some respect. They then hooked up with a manager called Eugene Butcher who got the band a few shows. In SUmmer 2001 they recorded the 'Shoes EP.' Shortly after this Ben left the band to go to Uni in New Mexico for a year so they got a man called Ian to be the trombonist, who they renamed Tucker. About a month later Nez left to go to a Uni in New York, and Pete's friend Dan replaced him. In November the 'Shoes EP' was released on Deck Cheese Records. Then they went on a headlining tour with the Cheapskates and Adequate 7 and earnt enough money to hire out a few hotel rooms per night. From there on things just got better and better for Jesse james!! They started getting better support slots and sold shit loads of t shirts. Then Kerrang got hold of their video for 'Shoes' and it got to number 3 in the video charts! and MTV2 played it a bit as well! Then everytone knew who they were and would sing along to their songs. In May this year, Ben returned from Uni in New Mexico and they are now a 7 piece!
