The next year or so was concentrated on getting to know each other as musicians and as people. Many months of regular rehearsing resulted in their indescribable unique blend of musical genres, which the band termed as WILDSTYLE. This was a musical quest to distort or give the impression of distorting time with the use of timbral and genetic dynamics. Realising from their own televisual behavioural patterns and observations from other band's gigs it was noted that people's attention span was only a few minutes long. This would be taken into consideration when songwriting in order to constantly challenge the listener with the unexpected and to go beyond the mould. Although they have been labelled by the UK music press as SKA PUNK, upon listening to THE PRAWN it becomes blatantly apparent that they are all that and yet so much more.

THE PRAWN'S debut album release, 'FIRST OFFENCE', hit the streets in 1995 on the cult punk label Words of Warning. Helped along the recording path by long time friend/fan ACE (of Skunk Anansie fame) the recordings were harsh and hard-hitting. The second album, 'FRIED IN LONDON, was released in 1997- a classic album in real terms. Every song hit new heights. This album spurned such killer tracks like RACIST COPPER, INCREASE THE PRESSURE, SURVIVE and NOT YOUR PUNK. Tours with the likes of Goldfinger, Capdown, Snuff, Less Than Jake, Real Big Fish and alike cemented the band as the band to live up to on the emerging UK SKA PUNK scene. But because of the band's musical versatility they were never confined to one 'scene', thus giving them the freedom to play with the likes of Prince Buster and Desmond Decker to One Minute Silence and Therapy?

'Champagne, cash and fat cigars' followed with the much heralded signing to SPITFIRE RECORDS in January 2000. The album recorded for the label, 'SURRENDER TO THE BLENDER', was preceded by the EP, 'YOUR WORST ENEMY', and the singles 'DAY IN DAY OUT' and 'SOMEONE TO HATE'. 2000 saw KP take on the European music circuit with on going shows being played in Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, Italy, Sicily, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Spain, and Austria to name but a few.

The end of the 2001 saw the band take on a ridiculously hectic schedule, as well as financing, writing, recording and co-producing their fourth and most ambitious long player (reuniting themselves with ACE as a co-producer and with ROGER TEBBIT in the engineers seat) to date. 'GOT THE THIRST' (the new KING P album) is due for release on 5th May 2003 through GOLF RECORDS.
