Ok, to be honest I do not really know very much about this band other than that they are a five piece Alt Rock band from Northampton. This is a 3 track demo CD from them highlighting some of the bands finest music that they have to offer in three exciting, enthusiastic stints. The band sound like they have been going at it for a fair while with their well rounded, refined sounding music but this sound of maturity could be deceiving – as I have not yet checked out their web site I am yet to find out!

The three tracks on display here are ‘Smile,’ ‘Deeper,’ and ‘Razorblades and Mirrors.’ These are all extremely fine sounding tracks which convey a lot of rhythm, a hell of a lot of power, and some good sturdy vocals that will really put a smile on your face. The fact that Pilfa Confession Box are a 5 piece is really used to their advantage as it allows for them to get a really deep, rich, and meaningful effect which they are really using to the full on this CD – they are oozing out every inch of power from their instruments that they can possible muster and it is coming out perfectly. The three tracks all show an extremely high level of excellence, with the band showing throughout that they are masters at their instruments and proving their worth to you as the listener. All three of these tracks really did please me as they are just so good with the amazing drum beats, bombarding bass lines, gripping guitar riffs, and vocals which are so fine that you would swear this group are signed to a major label. This band have a real dark side to their music and this especially comes across in third and final track, ‘Razorblades and Mirrors.’ This is my favourite of the three tracks due to its immense darker side and I just feel that this is the most powerful of the three tracks on display here. This is a tune of pure, immense finesse which will have you at the edge of your seat with excitement – just waiting for what comes next, never being quite sure what is to follow. This track is highly unpredictable in the way that it runs and this makes it an amazingly exciting track in the way that it has you gripped – if you don’t enjoy this track then I swear there must be something wrong with you as it is an absolute blinder!

So, from a band that before I knew very little of – they have done very well to convert me in to a fan of theirs and I am sure that I will be following them from here on in and checking their web site frequently for updates! Pilfa Confession Box are one of those bands that you just cant afford to dislike, as if you dislike this band then you are really missing out on one of Britains finest rising stars. Check out the bands web site at www.pilfa.co.uk for regular updates and news on the bands progress.
