#1 Defender – The Lana Lang Effect
This is a 4 track CD from Ashford based #1 Identity(formerly Brodie.) This band has some quite hardcore Guitar riffs mixed with other lighter riffs which create an element of wonder as to where the song is going to go next. The vocals are mainly melodic and emotional although at times they verge on hardcore with some extremely hard hitting vocals to make sure that you are paying attention to what is going on! This works extremely effectively on the forth track, ‘Recall The Summer’ where the vocals go from melodic and emotional to shouty vocals and this works really well and makes them sound amazing as it all fits together perfectly and while being melodic it also manages to have that hardcore feel about it that keeps the track exciting and full of energy and power. The CD is full of power and also has the great melodic vocals of Andy which make you really relax while occasionally also putting you on the edge of your seat. I thought that this was an extremely amazing four track as every song was brilliant in its own special way as there is both emotion and a degree of rawness about it. They seem to have a Glassjaw influence here and this is definitely not a bad thing. They are great at what they do and if you like Hardcore tinged Emo then check this band out as they play some awesome music and you are sure to be happy with what you hear as this band are extremely exciting and I feel that they have a lot of potential which they will be able to use to make themselves become a leading act in the scene. Check them out by going along to one of their shows and show that you support up and coming UK talent. Their website is http://www.thedefenderfightson.co.uk so try and check them out and download a few of their songs.
